Last year, United Spinal filed a class action lawsuit in federal court. The lawsuit is aimed at eliminating the physical access barriers you and your fellow voters face on election day. The investigation for this suit continues. Disability Rights Advocates represents United Spinal in this action. They are experienced attorneys dedicated to protecting your rights.
If you use a wheelchair, scooter, or cane OR if you have a vision disability, please help our investigation and contact us if you have experienced any barriers at your neighborhood polling place! For example:
- If you vote absentee because voting at your
designated poll site is too difficult, we want to hear from you. - If you have encountered ramps blocked by
backpacks, bikes, trashcans, or any other obstacle which prevents or makes it
hard for you to enter your polling place, please let us know. - If you have ever not been able to reach a voting
privacy booth because poll workers have set up machines too close together or
too high, we want to hear from you.
Contact us to make your voice heard. Help make New York a more accessible city for all!
To share your stories about inaccessible poll sites, and poll site barriers, at polling places within the 5 boroughs, please contact Mike Puleo at 212-644-8644 or mpuleo@dralegal.org. All conversations will be kept confidential unless disclosure is authorized by you.
